Elite Soccer Programs in Dallas

ECNL, MLS NEXT, and Girls Academy explained — and the Dallas clubs that compete at the top level.

At the very top of youth soccer sit a handful of national leagues that offer the highest level of competition and college exposure. Families in Dallas aiming for college or professional pathways should understand the three main platforms: ECNL, MLS NEXT, and the Girls Academy (GA).

ECNL (Elite Clubs National League)

ECNL is a premier national league for both boys and girls. It features national travel, showcase events with heavy college-scout attendance, and a regional tier (ECNL Regional League, or ECNL RL) that serves as a pathway up.

MLS NEXT (Boys)

MLS NEXT is the top boys platform, run by Major League Soccer as the successor to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. It is the primary pathway toward MLS academies and professional soccer. There is no girls equivalent — elite girls play in ECNL or GA.

Girls Academy (GA)

The Girls Academy is a top girls-only national platform with 100+ member clubs, a long competitive season, and national showcases built for maximum college exposure. GA Aspire is its developmental second tier.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ECNL and MLS NEXT?

ECNL serves both boys and girls and is a top national league with strong college exposure. MLS NEXT is boys-only, run by Major League Soccer, and is the primary pathway toward MLS academies and pro soccer. Many top boys clubs choose one platform or the other.

Is elite soccer necessary to play in college?

No. Elite leagues offer the most exposure, but players are recruited from many levels. Strong play, good grades, and proactive outreach to college coaches matter most. Elite soccer is one path, not the only one.

How does my player get into an elite program in Dallas?

Elite teams are highly selective and fill through tryouts. Build a foundation at the competitive/select level, attend the club's tryouts, and talk with coaches about the pathway. See our tryouts and tryout-prep guides.
